Yuriy Gavrilenko
Festival Director, Board of Directors
Yuriy is a New York-based visual artist, filmmaker and provocateur. In
the early 1990's he co-founded the "Album" publishing house
- the publisher of "Who Is Who In Contemporary Moscow Art Scene".
In 1997 he produced "New York Tusovka" - a documentary about
Russian art activities in New York. Over the last two years, Yuriy has
co-produced such films as "20 Cans of Chunky Beef Soup" - a
documentary about a homeless Russian artist and "Friends My Ass",
portraying the lives of seven young Russian professionals in New York
City. He is currently working on an animation project on the legendary
muse of Vladimir Mayakovsky, Lilia Brik.
Alina Bliumis
- Director of Programming, Board of Directors - Alina is an artist and
a filmmaker. In 2003 Alina and Jeff Bliumis started a project "Videolog"
- a series of video shorts about legendary Russian personalities, intellectuals
and artists. Videolog received rave reviews and was featured at a number
of screenings including: Center of Contemporary Art, Moscow and EVA, Electronic
Imaging and the Visual Arts Conference at The State Tretyakov Gallery,
Moscow, Russia. Videolog is an on-going effort. Alina also directed a
number of animation shorts among which is a "Recipe for Melody"
that was featured at the 2002 Tampere International Film Festival and
the MTV's "Mpeg_us" in 2003. Alina was credited for her post
production work in "Radioman" (Gold Prize for Animation at Priz
Leonardo, Italy and final selection Animar Animation Festival, Spain).
Her animation credits include MTV's animated series "Headtrip",
TNT's documentary "Faces of Evil! " and a number of TV commericals.
Katya Bochavar
- Board of Directors - Ekaterina is a successful designer living in New
York City who has a long track record of involvement in art- and design-related
projects.This list includes the accessory line "Ekaterina Moroz",
the "Zvon" boutique store and the interior design company "Fabrika".
Some of her works were recently featured in the "Architectural Digest"
magazine.
Marina Rubin
- Press Manager - Marina Rubin is a journalist, an essayist and a poet.
Her poetry had appeared in numerous literary magazines and she is the
author of two poetry collections, Ode to Hotels and Once. She is a columnist
for www.ycrop.com reviewing concerts, films and other venues in Russian
New York. She is also a creative advisor and promoter for the Siberian-swing-salsa
band Yoke.
Anna Ivanova
- Advertising and Marketing - Anna has a degree from "Finance Academy
under the Government of the Russian Federation ", Moscow in Economics.
She is currently completing her BSc, Majoring in Microcomputer Programming
at the "GIT" in New York. Anna has professional experience dealing
with multinational corporate clients through her previous position as
a Corporate Accounts Manager for Actis Systems in Moscow, Russia. She
has also worked for Apple Macintosh, while living in the U.A.E.
Isaac Mathes
Editorial Manager - Isaac Mathes makes films and videos that blur
the lines between documentary and fiction that connect remote or disparate
communities. A graduate of University of Texas with an MFA in Film Production,
Issac had filmed his student projects in Moscow and St. Petersburg. His
filmography includes award-winning works "Moscow Diary, "The
Navel. He is a recipient of numerous grants and awards, including
a Fulbright Grant to teach DV Production and Alternative Aesthetics courses
at The All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and the Institute
for the Problems of Contemporary Art in Moscow. He had also taught 16mm,
Beta and DV Production, Screenwriting, Media Writing, History of Cinema
and Film Aesthetics courses at U.T., Pratt and NJ City University.
Dmitriy Romendik
- Editorial Manager - I was born in the early seventies. Many times studied
somewhere, but still ignoramus. Wrote screenplays, short stories, and
Cobol-language programs. Some of my literary exercises were published
in the third issue of the Art-party Pravda newspaper. The
issue turned out to be the last one. That party was over. Has never been
the member of The Party but joined Comsomol (Young Communist movement).
Collected membership fees and kept most of them for myself. Comsomol was
disbanded. I must have done my job. Served my Motherland well, though
I still have no idea which one is mine. I was born in the Soviet Union.
My Motherland expired. Used to live in Ukraine, yet barely know Ukrainian.
Plus Im a Jew who doesnt know a word of Jewish tongues. Now
I live in the United States. My English is as good as my Ukrainian. I
socialize, speaking Russian with people of different ethnicities. Russians
among them are few.
Dave Heasty
- Design, Creative Direction - Dave is the Founder and Creative Director
of the design consultancy, Triboro. The firms clients include Bigshot
Magazine, Fairchild Publishing, Madison Square Garden, Original Sin, Universal
and USA Networks. Dave has been hailed as one of the Top 20 designers
under age 30 by Print Magazine. In 2002 he was a judge for the Annual
New York Art Directors Club Awards. His work has been featured in many
publications including Communication Arts, Creative Review, D&AD,
Design News, Graphis, Lucky, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal
Slava Solganik
is versatile multimedia artist shown himself as talented video maker and
photographer. He co-produced such videos as Friends My Ass and 20 Cans
of Chunky Beef Soup.
